Health service strengthening will continue under Healthy Child Uganda. This programme targets the local population through engaging district leaders, strengthening health facilities and promoting healthy communities.

As Professor Frederick I.B Kayanja, the Vice Chancellor, stated, to improve maternal, newborn and child health requires well trained human resource and continuous research since times are changing; to achieve all these, one needs a centre of excellence to consolidate training, research and service delivery. This is what the Institute is all about. The Institute had to happen as long as Healthy Child Uganda did not fail. MNCHI is here to improve the health of mothers and children that will form pillars for this and the next generation! As the Institute sets precedence in achieving its goals and objectives, the key result areas ought to be explored by health workers, practitioners and general public in order to address maternal and child mortality in the world today.
